Notes from the Rep Biz - 9-7-2018

At WME:
 
Agent Adam Venit has retired from WME. Venit was a longtime agent for WME. Last year, he was accused of groping actor Terry Crews at a party, an accusation that led to a temporary suspension, and then a lawsuit, which was just recently settled. It’s understood right now that Venit’s clients will go to other agents at WME. They include – Sylvester Stallone, Adam Sandler, Eddie Murphy and Michael B. Jordan.
 

At CAA:
 
Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista has signed with Josh Lieberman. Bautista has competed as an MMA fighter, and had a career in the WWE, as well. He has quickly earned Hollywood’s respect, since his breakout role in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. His growing resume now includes Blade Runner 2049, Spectre and Hotel Artemis. He reprised his role of Drax in Avengers: Infinity War, and will be appearing in that film’s sequel. He’ll next be seen opposite Kumail Nanjiani in the action comedy Stuber, and the family comedy My Spy next month. His manager is Jonathan Meisner.
 
Writer, producer and actor Kathleen Robertson has signed with Adam Biren. Robertson has been crazy busy lately; he adapted the 1994 film Swimming With Sharks for E!, she is developing the dramedy Your Time is Up for Lionsgate TV, and signed an overall deal with Universal Cable Productions. She’s also writing the features Little Bee for Amazon and The Possibilities for Fox Searchlight. She’ll also be starring in Northern Rescue for Netflix. She is managed by Alissa Vradenburg at Untitled.
 
Actress Dewanda Wise has signed with CAA. Wise is the star of Spike Lee’s Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It – an adaptation of his film of the same name. Her other credits include, Boardwalk Empire, Shots Fired and The Good Wife. She is repped by managers Anna Liza Recto and Michael Kaleda at Bold Management and Production.
 

At ICM:
 
Uncle Jesse himself -- John Stamos has signed with Kevin Crotty, Brad Schenck, Howie Tanenbaum and Eddy Yablans. Stamos is best known for his role as Uncle Jesse on Full House, and currently plays the character on Netflix’s Fuller House (which he also executive produces). Next up, he’ll be guest starring on Greg Berlanti’s You for Lifetime, and has projects set up at Freeform and Universal Television. He is managed by Danny Sussman at Brillstein.
 
Screenwriter Abdul Williams has signed with ICM. Williams is the writer on the miniseries The Bobby Brown Story for BET, which premiered this week. He also wrote The New Edition story for BET, which had record ratings. Jon Huddle of Fourth Wall Management is his manager.
 
Director Emma Tammi has signed with ICM. Tammi’s directorial debut, the horror western The Wind, will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival next week in the Midnight Madness section. Additionally, ICM has signed Tammi’s production company Mind Hive and producing partner Henry Jacobson.
 

At UTA:
 
Comic book writer, artist, and animator Dash Shaw has signed with Nick Shumaker. Shaw’s most popular graphic novels include Bottomless Belly Button, Doctors and BodyWorld. Shaw’s animated feature film, My Entire High School Sinking Into the Sea, was released in 2016.
