Box Office Round-Up ~ 4/1/25

It was an almost entirely new field across the top five at the box office this past weekend, with one exception. A Working Man, starring Jason Statham, directed by David Ayer and co-written by Ayer and Sylvester Stallone took the number one spot with $15.5 million. It’s a comparable debut to Ayer and Statham’s previous collaboration, last January’s The Beekeeper.

Snow White moved to second place, experiencing a harsh sophomore slump with just $14.3 million (down 66% from its debut). It may yet make $100 million domestically, but it’s a resounding disappointment for Disney. With Good Friday and Easter Sunday just a couple weeks away, Fathom’s latest theatrical release of the popular The Chosen TV series (fittingly centered around the Last Supper) took third place with $11.7 million, the biggest weekend of the franchise so far.

The Woman in the Yard, the latest horror title from Blumhouse, debuted in fourth place with $9.3 million, while A24 indie horror comedy Death of a Unicorn - led by Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd - rounded out the top five with $5.7 million.

This coming weekend may see a more resounding box office winner, with A Minecraft Movie — starring Jason Momoa and Jack Black — expected to be the biggest opening weekend of 2025 so far.
