Box Office Round-Up ~ 10/24/24

Smile 2 continued a strong Halloween season of horror at the box office, winning the weekend with a $23 million debut. The original Smile had a similar opening in 2022, which puts the sequel on a pace to end up clearing $100 million domestically.

Speaking of which, The Wild Robot passed $100 million overall, grossing $9.3 million in its fourth weekend. Combined with Kung Fu Panda 4 in March, this has been the most successful year for DreamWorks Animation since before the pandemic.

Terrifier 3 dropped to third place in its second weekend with $9.3 million. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice took fourth place after seven weekends in theaters, grossing $5 million to pass $280 million domestically. Rounding out the top five was A24’s new drama We Live in Time, starring Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh, which expanded to a wide release in its second weekend to gross a solid $4.2 million.
