Box Office Round-Up ~ 9/4/24

It was a quiet Labor Day Weekend at the box office, which allowed Deadpool & Wolverine perhaps their final run atop the charts. It’s just shy of $600 million total with a long weekend gross of $15.4 million. In second place, Alien: Romulus grossed $9.2 million in its third weekend in theaters. At $88 million overall, it will more than likely cross the $100 million domestic mark before the end of its theatrical run.

Two summer hits returns to the top five, thanks to a relatively soft slate of new releases. Twisters saw a Labor Day bump, returning to third place with $7.7 million, putting it at $258 million overall. In fifth place, romantic drama It Ends With Us also moved back into the top five with $7.4 million.

Sandwiched in between them in fourth place was Dennis Quaid-led biopic Reagan, the only new release to crack the top five with a decent $7.6 million. Next weekend sees the first likely big hit of the fall season with the long-awaited Beetlejuice Beetlejuice from Tim Burton.
