Notes from the Rep Biz - 12-18-20

At WME:

WME has been busy over the past couple of weeks snapping up talent in a range of different fields. Author/entrepreneur Rachel Hollis (Girl, Wash Your Face), podcast host Monica Padman (Armchair Expert) and influencer Amanda Cerny are all now repped by the agency.

WME also signed the filmmaking teams of Merawi Gerima and Mark Jeevaratnam (Residue) and Stéphanie Chuat and Véronique Reymond (My Little Sister).

It was announced this week that WME parent company Endeavor has taken a stake in the company of veteran basketball agent Bill Duffy, allowing WME another inroad into sports representation and expanded branding opportunities for Duffy's clients, who include rising superstar Luka Dončić.

Finally, WME also signed some actors — namely Jingle Jangle breakout Madalen Mills (who also inked with Brillstein for management) and Industry co-star Marisa Abela.

At CAA:

Another couple of actresses to watch are now with CAA: Jo Ellen Pellman of The Prom and Christian Serratos, who portrays music legend Selena in the new Netflix series based on her life.

CAA also now represents actor Luke Evans, veteran of numerous action films and thrillers.

At UTA:

Adèle Exarchopoulos, one of France's most in-demand young actresses, is now with UTA.

At ICM Partners:

Trixie Mattel (aka Brian Firkus) and Katya Zamolodchikova (aka Brian McCook) are now repped by ICM. The drag queens each appeared on RuPaul's Drag Race and have been booked solid ever since, often working as a duo on various web, TV, music and publishing projects.

ICM has also signed one of the significant playwrights of his era, Will Eno, who was a Pulitzer finalist for his play Thom Pain (based on nothing).

Elsewhere Around Town:

Verve has signed rising playwright/performer Hannah Benitez, as well as Cristina Gallego, co-director of the universally acclaimed Colombian film Birds of Passage.

Buchwald now represents Tyler Perry's new muse, Melissa L. Williams, who has worked with the multi-hyphenate artist on several projects to date.

APA has signed actress Sandrine Holt, while non-scripted agent Marc Kamler has left APA to join A3 Agency.

And last but not least (by a long shot), Range Media Partners has signed CrichtonSun, the production company handling the estate and archives of mega-writer Michael Crichton, run by his widow Sherri Crichton.
