Agency Action

  • UK literary agency Peters Fraser Dunlop is now The Rights House after being taken over by publicist Matthew Freud and agent Michael Foster. Freud will continue to operate his PR business separately from the new company, but Foster's MF Management is now fully merged with The Rights House. His clients include Julie Christie, Billie Piper and Jeremy Northam.

  • Actor Justin Kirk, best known for his work on "Weeds," has signed with Josh Katz at UTA.  He is managed by Suzan Bymel and Lainie Sorkin Becky at Management 360.

  • Zachary Gordon, who had the title role in this year's "Diary of Wimpy Kid," has signed with Nick Styne at CAA.

  • John Douglas Thompson, one of the most celebrated actors from the past New York theater season, has signed with manager Gene Parseghian at Parseghian/Planco Management.

  • Publicist Marla Farrell at WKT has recently added Melissa Joan Hart and Colin Egglesfield to her client list.

On The Rise

  • A new installment of the "Scream" franchise is in the works, and offers are out to Lake Bell, Hayden Panettiere and Ashley Greene for leading roles.  Lake Bell is with UTA's Nancy Gates, and manager Joannie Burstein. Panettiere is repped by agent Brian DePersia at WME, as well as by Emily Gerson Saines of Brookside Artist Management. Greene is with Ryan Daly at Innovative, and management company McKeon-Myones Entertainment.

  • Chris Lowell, a series regular on "Private Practice," is joining the cast of the feature "The Help," which stars Emma Stone.  His reps are Esther Chaing at WME, and manager Steve Kavovit at Thruline.

In The Works

  • Pretty busy for a soap actor
    • James Franco, who still has a few episodes of "General Hospital" to shoot, is now attached to the feature comedy "Ricky Stanicky," as well as to "Planet of the Apes" prequel "Rise of the Apes."  He is represented by Kami Putnam-Heist at WME, and by James/Levy Management.

  • These "Musketeers" keep multiplying
    • Orlando Bloom will join Paul W.S. Anderson's "The Three Musketeers," not playing one of the title swashbucklers, but the film's villain.  Bloom is with CAA's Kevin Huvane, and manager Aleen Keshishian at Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
